Mobile VR Game

A mobile VR horror game built in Unity with free movement and character physics.

This mobile horror game was created as part of a project course in my Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) studies. The goal of this project was not to produce a fully working game but to learn how to work in larger teams of developers using SCRUM and how to improve the workflow.

About The Game

The game takes place in an abandoned asylum where you as a player walk around to stream the different monsters. Through streaming the monsters (by looking at them) you generate viewers which in turn generates likes, which is your score. The monsters spawns overtime and the player has access to 5 detectors that can be placed out to send notifications whenever a monster is nearby. And to to make the game a bit harder, the player also has to escape alive with the likes by finding the control room, unlock the exit, and then finally locate the exit!

My Focus

During the development, each team member focuses on a certain field to a certain extent. My focus started off on the VR support, as well as movement and character physics. I later moved on to areas such as a universal storage solution for player settings, scores, username et. cetera, user interface (UI), and score generation (archived through viewers and likes).

Functionalities

  • Mobile VR support.
  • Free-space character movement with physics.
  • Random map generation.
  • Storage for high scores, settings, usernames, and so on.
  • Object detection.
